* Manufacturer warranties on solid surface are conditional: both Corian (10-year) and HIMACS (15-year installed) warranties are void if the material is installed by an unqualified fabricator.

Applications

One material, multiple uses.

Residential kitchen with seamless solid surface countertop and integrated sink

Residential

The kitchen is the heart of the home. Solid surface gives it seamless joins, hundreds of colours, and finishes that run from convincing marble effects through to bright modern acrylics. Fabricated to fit, not cut to compromise.

  • Countertops
  • Integrated backsplashes
  • Seamless joins
  • Integrated sinks
  • Seamless waterfalls
  • Slimline cabinet doors with European hardware
  • Seamless shower walls
  • Shower trays
  • Custom sinks

Thermoforming

Heated to around 168 °C, solid surface becomes pliable enough to shape into genuine 3D forms: curved reception fronts, radiused counters, sculpted basins. One-off pieces or perfectly matched multiples. Translucent colours can be backlit for a glow most materials simply can't do.

Hygiene & certifications

A surface clean enough for hospitals and restaurant kitchens is easy to live with at home. Here's what solid surface is certified for.

Independently certified by NSF International, LGA QualiTest, and the Royal Institute for Public Health.

Commercial solid surface counter installation
Nothing soaks in
The surface is completely non-porous, so spills, stains, and germs have nowhere to sink in. It never needs sealing, and mould and mildew can’t take hold.
Safe to prep food on
Rated more hygienic for food prep than stainless steel. Certified food-safe (NSF/ANSI 51).
No fumes in your home
GREENGUARD certified for low chemical emissions, so it doesn’t give off fumes indoors.
Clean with anything
Strong cleaning products won’t damage or discolour it. The same material is chosen for laboratory worktops for exactly that reason.
Trusted where it matters most
Hospitals use it in operating rooms and scrub stations because it stands up to constant disinfecting and doesn’t stain.
No cracks for grime
Joins are bonded invisibly, so there are no seams or crevices where dirt and bacteria collect. That’s one reason hospitals credit it with reducing infections.

On-site solid surface countertop repair in progress

Repair & refurbishment

Unlike quartz, solid surface can be repaired and refinished on site by a qualified fabricator. Colour runs the full thickness of the material, so cracks, burns, and deep scratches are cut out, patched with matched material, and polished back, invisible 99% of the time. HEPA filtered polishers and vacuum connected tools keep the work free of water and dust.

About

The people behind your countertops.

At the heart of DBC Surfaces is David Byrne, a cabinetmaker certified by the Irish trades board who trained in traditional and modern European furniture and kitchen design before bringing that craft to British Columbia. From the shop in Richmond, he and his team handle every stage of the work themselves: templating, fabrication, installation, and repairs.

David brings over 20 years of experience across solid surface fabrication and cabinetmaking, including the thermoforming work most local shops won't take on. He founded DBC Surfaces in 2017, and today the work runs from home kitchens to BC's hospitals, ferries, transit, and airport, serving the Lower Mainland and across BC.

The mission hasn't changed since day one: fabrication at the highest standard for retailers and end customers alike, without abandoning affordable pricing.
